The New York Skate Movie

Buddy Nichols and Rick Charnoski of NCP films have put out several impressive skateboarding documentaries. In recent years there has been an abundance in skatboarding documentaries that focus on legends and personalities from the pool and halfpipe era of the 1970s and 1980s. This new flick is unique in that the lead character is the city of New York. I believe this will also be the first film to take a serious stab at examining the wider implications of a skateboarder’s use of the urban environment. If you have read issue #2 of Wend Magazine you might get a sense of how excited I am about this project. Check the trailer here.
