What is he doing in there?

sean

Gerry Lopez once said that every surfer should make his own surfboard and I’ve been curious about the wooden ‘surfboard kits’ that Grain Surfboards offer since they were featured in Wend #2. However, I’m not much of a handyman and so even a step by step manual with all the required materials, as provided in the Grain kits, would be too much of a stretch to turn me into a bonafide surfboard shaper. That is why I was incredibly stoked to learn that my neighbour, friend and sometimes surf partner but more often beer drinking partner has been quietly hard at work assembling his very own wooden surfboard. So props to you, Sean and when can I place an order for a 6′, twin keel fish? Sean is keeping a detailed blog to document the process that the Grain guys seem excited about.

Cheers! I think Grains’ Wherry is my next project!

Gotta finish this one first! Railshaping starts tomorrow after Rip van Frodo wakes up from his slumber!

Everyone feel free to add to my blog. Comments and tips are most appreciated and thanks to the guys at Grain for all of their support! Special shout out to Rich Blundell for all of his help as well on his Tree to Sea forum at Grainsurf.com.

Now, I just hope the fin don’t hum and it doesn’t pull to one side because it is crooked! ha ha ha
