Well, not really the color green, its earth friendly wax. Matunas makes non-toxic and biodegradeable surf wax.
I just used the cold this week and wow its the bestest, greatest thing ever!!!!!! It works just like other surf wax!!!!! Amazing!!!
Matunas Surf wax is worth checking out. It works great and isn’t made from petrolium like many other kinds of wax.

Matunas is a start, but it’s claiming “biodegradable”. But there is no standard by which biodegrable is measured. In essence, the plastic that holds cans of soda together is biodegradable…in approximately 500 years it biodegrades. What’s the biodegradeable rate of Matunas? What’s the chemicals they put in there in place of the petroleum? What’s the other chemicals? They can put anything on their label to satisfy people, but it doesn’t mean it’s 100% honest or telling the whole truth.
I went to college with the guy who stated Matunas. He is a diehard surfer, and I remeber visiting his house when he was starting to make the wax. He was using just strained beeswax from his family’s farm, and no chemicals. For fragrance he was using real rasberries that he grew, and riverbed clay. He would melt all these dwon and would give out bars to us. He is also en evironmental chemist major. I checked out the website, http://www.matunasco.com, and it looked good.
Prove it, Matunas is made in the same mass produced factory as Famous wax. Witnesses of the production have cited the use of petro-chemicals – even in small percentages being used. Why do you believe the marketing just because they say so? Riverbed clay? Nope. That would rinse straight off the board in water. Aloe? Nope. That is water SOLUBLE. Rasberries for fragrance? Not likely. A small private farm isn’t likely to produce the volume needed to make the fragrance. Let alone, the color of the wax is bright white despite the claim of a staining blue color, no pulp, no residue, and oh yeah I forgot, rasberries are water SOLUBLE too!

Good on them for trying to be “green”. Now they should put their money where their mouth is and get certified non-petroleum. Certified organic. Probably couldn’t get approved.
It is awful to see the people out there who scrutininze others good work. I appreciate brands like Matunas, Famous, and Stickybumps for making the effort to put out a green wax.
