Bikes and the law

Anyone who regularly cycles through an American city knows that traffic law and common sense as it pertains to bicycling do not always coincide. This is challenging to cyclists, other road users and law enforcement alike and every once in awhile ridiculous situations like what happened to Stephan Orsak in Minneapolis blow up. Stephan was pulled over for apparently cycling where it was prohibited, nothing unusual there but how the arrest played out is simply, ridiculous. In a sense it is fortunate this incident happened to Stephan and not someone else as he has done an excellent job of documenting the whole the experience in a very cohesive way. I’m sure this type of thing happens more frequently than we hear about so kudos to Stephan for sticking up for himself and making his voice heard. Ride on! Read his story on his blog, GreenCycles.
