Live from the Gorge Games Adventure Village
Nothing like a windy Saturday to spend in Hood River. We’re here to do some Wend promotion at Gorge Games 2008. 10 extreme sports in over 40 different categories makes for a fun weekend… However while tons of crazy athletes are windsurfing, kayaking and just being generally crazy, Brian and I are hanging out in the Adventure Village; basically a lot of booths with free swag. We already scored a free pair of Point 6 wool socks. Sweet! Just look how happy those socks and his free issue of Wend made him:
But despite serving beer in corn cups, the Adventure Village has been disappointing in regards to a subject that Wend holds near and dear to its heart: plastic. It’s hot out and we all need water to stay hydrated, but unfortunately the security guards have been seen pouring out people’s nalgenes as they pass through the entrance. What is the hydration option? Buying bottled water…. bottled water! One of the things we hate most in the world…
Let’s give the Gorge Games some credit; they were supposed to have water stations set up in the Adventure Village but because of some miscommunication and organization they aren’t here and the only option for downing some good H2O is buying a very non eco-friendly plastic bottle. Has the general public not been informed about the evils of plastic bottles? Apparently they have succumb to persuasive advertising; just watch the video Ian posted earlier today.
But if we can’t consume water with a good consience — I can’t justify paying for a plastic bottle when my empty aluminum one sits next to me — I guess there’s always beer….

didn’t know plastic was so bad, you can use your plastic bottle over and over again. I do that!
