Last fall I was traveling in Vietnam and spent a few days on Cat Ba Island in Halong Bay, Vietnam’s famous UNESCO site. While there I met two super cool guys, Onslo and Erik, who had given up on the traditional American lifestyle and traded it for running a climbing company, called SloPony, in Vietnam. Starting a private business in a Socialist Republic probably isn’t the task that most people are up to, but SloPony has taken off and become popular with not only tourists, but the locals as well. The two gentleman are doing so well that they’ve been issued a license to develop rock climbing in Vietnam, which they hope will help them in creating a Vietnamese team of climbers to represent the Asian X Games in the upcoming years.

slopony2Having grown exponentially in the last few years, they’re in need of some help, and looking for experienced climbers to work as assistant climbing guide or lead climbing guide. In return you’ll get to spend some quality time exploring Cat Ba Island and have other opportunities like learning to bolt and develop sport routes.

What will it take to score such a sweet gig? A minimum commitment of three months is about it. SloPony can guarantee possible coverage of room and board, payroll and other perks depending on experience and just how cool you are. What do you have to lose? Check out the job flier here, or to get more information shoot an email to info[at]slopony[dot]com.
