Bigfoot Hoax Costume Goes For $250,283.00 on eBay

Well, it’s over. On October 16th, an eBay shopper (and fearless spender in times of economic crisis) with the handle Vitanetworks shelled out a whopping $250,283.00 to win the online bidding war on the bigfoot costume and freezer used by two Georgia hunters in a hoax this summer.

It is difficult to determine why anyone with a sound mind would spend that kind of money on the costume and my fingers are crossed that eventually the person who did will be discovered and examined thoroughly.

According to the auction site, the animal entrails that were originally stuffed into the suit have been replaced with “non-organic” parts. In addition to being the proud new owner of the bigfoot suit and freezer it was kept in, the winner will receive “legal paperwork to prove its authenticity” and a personal visit from Whitton and Dyer (the hoax perpetrators). Proceeds from the sale will pay for legal troubles the two incurred due to the hoax.

In the meantime, the search for the true identity of eBay user Vitanetworks is on and may prove to be as frustrating as the search for sasquatch itself. It is possible that the buyer is the owner of VitaNetworks, an internet service provider that has conspicuously removed all contact information and the “about” page from its website. But don’t worry, it is a safe bet that reporters across the country are on the case and the public at large will soon get what we demand – to know what this costume will be used for.
