airport

Wheels are spinning at the Portland International Airport (PDX) – and not on the runway. This morning Jonathan Maus, an editor at BikePortland.org, confirmed with aviation officials that PDX hopes to become the first airport in the United States to offer bike assembly areas and other services for two-wheeled travelers.

The airport is considering a dedicated facility where travelers could re-assemble their bicycles before they hit the road, or take them apart and pack them up prior to getting on a plane. The facility would be placed outside (under cover) and would include at least two bike clamps and an air pump (bolted to the ground).

If you do fly your bike into Portland, don’t forget to ride over to the Wend office and deliver a few micro-brews from your home town and tell us about your trip.
