UN Climate Talks Generate 13,000 Tons of Carbon

While you were stuffing yourself with leftover turkey this weekend, an estimated 10,650 people from all over the world were making their way to Poland in order to attend the December 1-12 meeting of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). The UNFCC estimates that the meeting will result in 13,000 tons of carbon being added to the earth’s greenhouse effect.

Although the 200 UNFCC members who will be attending the meeting are traveling by bus and train (the most carbon-friendly means possible) and Poland has claimed it will offset the total emissions resulting from the conference, earth sympathizers around the world are wondering if this meeting might be setting a bad example.

What do you think?
