Google Adds ‘Transit Layer’ to Maps to Aid Travelers and Locals

Using public transportation (and in doing so, helping the environment) just got a little easier with Google Maps’ new Transit Layer function. Google Maps already has a “public transit” option in order to help you figure out how to get from point A to point B. But the new Transit Layer goes above and beyond, adding the layout of the public transportation system to a map, allowing people opting for transportation other than their cars to easily see which route to take.

The new Transit Layer function for Google Maps is currently available for 50 different cities around the world, so now there’s no excuse for not taking a bus, subway or trolley to get where you want to go.
