If you’re planning on traveling to Australia any time soon, don’t forget to leave your pets at home. Australia has some of the most strict quarantine regulations on plants and animals of anywhere in the world. But hey, you’re a savvy world traveler. You can probably outsmart the customs agents, right? Wrong. You can try, but they will catch you – no matter how ingenious your plan seems.
On Tuesday, a 23 year-old Australia native was busted attempting to smuggle two live pigeons into the country on his way home from a trip to the Middle East.
Authorities decided to search the man after they found two eggs in a vitamin container in his luggage. That’s when they found the pigeons, which were wrapped in padded envelopes held to each of the man’s legs by a pair of tights. The officials also discovered the man was hoarding seeds in his money belt and was packing an undeclared eggplant.
Australia might be a nice place to visit, just remember to leave your animal friends at home.
