Some Hipster is Really Bummed

My friend just sent me this pic of a stem and bar lying in the street across from City Bikes on SE Ankeny. It looks like some hipster was there buying stuff to put a fixie together. I really don’t understand why people would cut a set of handlebars this tight, because even the skinniest malnourished hipsters’ hips are wider than these bars.

That looks like an Xtracycle stoker bar. But really, if that’s a handlebar, I can see why it’s been tossed to the curb.

At first, I thought this was an extra bar for computers and lights, but having just seen one on a bike, those are being ridden. Check Mark V’s post on this topic.

If indeed, PVC is being used as a handlebar material choice, than I think a darwin aware is in order.
