ultimate-adventuresBe it at home or at the office, it’s good to have a wanderlust inspiring book laying around; the kind of book that encourages you to get out, explore and push your boundaries. With listings of basically any outdoor location you can think of, and all kinds adventure — for everyone from the beginner to the skilled thrill seeker — Ultimate Adventures is that book.

This certainly isn’t a book of tour outfitter listings, in fact it’s more like a textbook for adventure travel, with 300 plus pages complete with historical anecdotes, tips on local guides and suggested reading for getting to know your selected destination just a little better.

Author and adventurer Gregg Witt circles the globe, tracking down the best climbing, diving, cycling, skiing, caving, surfing and paddling experiences. But Witt is fully aware that sometimes the most adventurous travels are the serendipitous ones, and although the book is chock full of tips and recommendations, the overarching theme is that the text and photos are to inspire you to plan your own journey.

In the current era of environmental consciousness, Witt also gets points for writing a book as aware as it is adventurous. On the title page he explicitly states “realizing the double-edged impact of travel we’ve tried to encourage responsible travel throughout this book and the need to limit your environmental impact and to be respectful and sensitive to local cultures.” Not only that, but the book is printed on FSC certified paper, underlining a commitment to protecting the forests that we love to play in.

A highly recommended book to put on your desk, coffee table or right next to your bed, so you can dream up your next adventure at any time of the day.
