Working in La Chureca, a trash dump community in Managua, non-profit Love, Light & Melody uses music and the arts to “rebuild, restore, and bring healing to communities ravaged by extreme poverty.” The group also partners with a local school to fund its feeding program, recreation and art classes and they’re currently working on setting up a vocational school that will also serve as a medical clinic for children and families of the trash dump.

“Day of Light” is a video that documents a day in the community, captured during an annual day of music and celebration that brings together residents, international non-profits and college students. Heartening yet haunting, this video is sure to stick with you… and hopefully inspire change.
