Okay, Wend isn’t overtly political except when it comes to the environment. Make no bones about it, we support policy that benefits streams, oceans, wilderness areas, and natural habitat for wildlife. We’re pro good, sound policy and politics with regard to our global natural resources and we believe the value in them far exceeds the desires of the extractive industries. Sure, we as staff, have grown up a bit from our days as savages throwing moltov cocktails all over the place, and handcuffing ourselves to trees. None the less, we’ve been criticized a couple of times for being ‘too political,’ even being told that if we talk politics, we’ll go out of business. But hey, we are a for profit business with a conscience, and our business depends on you all having nice, pleasant, and healthy wilderness, streams, rivers, deserts, and seas, to go play around in. If that wilderness goes away, or is severely compromised, we go down the tubes. And not only that, we’ll slit our wrists in anguish.
My very sanity is dependent on the ability to get out and be as I am in the woods; an animal with (some) skill and cunning, an animal that can sense beauty. Not Stiv, Editor of Wend and guy with a clutch going out on his Subaru whose house will need a new roof soon, and how the hell am I going to pay for either? No, in the woods, we are better people than the day to day bullshit that often defines us.
So, on to John Boehner, “The idea that carbon dioxide is a carcinogen that is harmful to our environment is almost comical. Every time we exhale, we exhale carbon dioxide. Every cow in the world, you know when they do what they do you’ve got more carbon dioxide.”
“It’s clear we’ve had change in our climate,” he added. “The question is how much does man have to do with it and what is the proper way to deal with this?”

COME ON DUDE!!!! Seriously. How is it even possible to be that ignorant with such a preponderance of scientific data that proves otherwise? Really, beyond a shadow of a doubt? I mean, it’s not rocket science: you burn something. It changes chemical composition. Emissions are released into the atmosphere. This is physical law. Now, when you burn something constantly you can calculate exactly how much you’re emitting.
John, check out the next issue of Wend, read about Jon Bowermaster’s exploits from all over the world, documenting climate change and start trying to understand this concept that the rest of the world calls, “science.”

When will Boehner name the person at the EPA, or any person, who claimed CO2 is a carcinogen?
Putting aside all the obvious OMG and WTF comments that could be made about Boner’s interview today on ABC, I am amazed that not only did he not answer any of the questions put to him, he also stated an irrelevant question of his own which he thought was more important:
“It’s clear we’ve had change in our climate,†he added. “The question is how much does man have to do with it and what is the proper way to deal with this?â€Â
Even if man had nothing to do with it, we are still the only ones with the capability to do anything about it. In regards to what we should be done about it, he had no answer in spite of the fact George Staphenopolis asked him at least three times.
This man is giving morons a bad name.
