If it were to possible to combine all of the sublime elements of the World Cup, the Super Bowl and the World Twenty20 Cricket Championship into one glorious sport you would end up with something closely resembling the World Speed Stacking championships.
Invented by Bob Fox, a PE teacher in Colorado, speed stacking is a game of hand-eye coordination that involves up-stacking a pile of cups into a pyramid shape, then down-stacking them back into a pile again. About halfway through the video below Fox gives a step-by-step stacking tutorial.
Turning cup stacking into a popular global competition? That is the very essence of the sublime.
