New York City Offers Free Bike Rentals
Urban adventures call for a means of transportation, and many cities are starting to realize that the best way to get around and explore is via bicycle. New York City isn’t behind on the trend, and the Downtown Alliance is currently hosting its second annual “Bike Around Downtown” where between now and September 30, 2009 you can rent a bike for free.
Residents and visitors alike can take advantage of the program, but if you want to score your free set of wheels you’ll want to be sure to sign up. The 30 free bikes will be available seven days a week, during three daily sessions. There’s no limit to how many times you can sign up, but reservations are made on a first come, first served basis.
Cheers to NYC for implementing a plan to get more people on bikes. Hopefully it’s so popular that they’ll add many more cycles next year.

Love that this is happening in our city!
We have been looking at the enviornmental and health reasonings to sell a car and move onto other forms of public transportation for some months now. Granted, we would like everyone in NY to sell us their cars, but.. even beyond that, there are just so many great benefits to ride a bike, it is silly not to!!
Initiatives like this are just invaluable!
I’ve been riding my bike for a few months not to and from the city. Lived out in Brooklyn for quite a few years. I’m in Queens now.
I sold my car to these guys Big Bucks Auto awhile back.
Great guys!
I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do what I did. (SAVE MONEY!)
With the cash I got for my car, I bought my bike.
I ride my bike everywhere now!
Thanks Big Bucks!
Greek God of Goodness! Georgio!
Biking riding in the city is dangerous. I got hit by a cabby not too long ago, nothing too serious. Thank goodness. I also sold my car to Big Bucks awhile back. Saw that ad on tv and it just stuck in my head. Thnx BigBucks. But regarding riding a bike in NYC? Forget about it, unless it’s a Sunday, when no one is in the city.

Interesting site, but much advertisments on him. Shall read as subscription, rss.
I think this is a great way to reverse our country’s obsesity problems. Not only does it fix this, it also of course helps with global warming issues.
