In November, 1970, a dead whale was beached in Florence, Oregon. As the animal decayed, the odor could be smelled miles away. The whale was too big to bury, and too big to get rid of by conventional means. So, what’s the responsible thing to do? Answer: Blow it up. Whale rotten blubber flew more than a half mile away and big chunks crushed cars. Sublime indeed.
