Ever think about how much energy it takes to power the cell phone you use so regularly? Ever wonder if instead of plugging it in every night, solar technology could be used to power your phone? Well, even if you haven’t, we’re pretty sure the people at Yanko Design, whose motto is, “Form beyond function,” have, which is why they created the model for a solar-powered cell phone that is both practical and sustainable. The phone, which has the basic functions of calls and messages, is flat and rectangular in shape, with a slight curve at both ends. Additionally, it is made up of several layers of flexible material. Together, these elements allow for sleek design, as well as the capability for user to actually wear the phone around his or her wrist (yes, like a bracelet), while it isn’t in use. This way, the phone charges via the sun while the person goes about his or her daily activities. At the least, a solar-powered cell is a huge leap in the direction of sustainable technology.
