In addition to my duties at Wend I’m the Chapter Chair of my local Surfrider Chapter, and also involved with The Snowrider Project which is the mountain arm of the Surfrider mission. This year, we paid for some signage at a local ski resort to remind folks that if you litter at the mountain, that litter is going to end up in the ocean. What do you think of the signage? We’re pretty stoked, and hoping that having them posted on lift towers will make folks understand the connection between snow pack, refuse and watershed. Do you think it will make people think twice? Havea positive net effect? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Here, in Portland, it’s particularly important as our city’s water source comes from The Bull Run Watershed (Mount Hood) and is so clean it doesn’t need to be treated. We want to keep it that way. Check Snowrider out, and maybe start a chapter in your mountain area?
