Drill Baby Drill: Outdoor Life’s Bikini Ice Fishing Team, UM…Really?

I got up early, and started the day off with coffee and a quick review of SNEWS and read that Hilleberg The Tentmaker had won an Editor’s Choice award over at Outdoor Life Magazine. I thought, ‘Sweet!, Petra is so nice to Wend, and Hilleberg is a family owned company, they make a great product, they deserve it.’ But then I got to thinking, ‘Hey, what the hell is Outdoor Life Magazine? I’ve never heard of it’. Boom, do a Google— And what to my eyes should appear? Um, yeah, you guessed it— five bikini clad young ladies with Power Ice Augers drilling into some frozen lake somewhere in the midwest, I’ll bet. I nearly spit out my coffee. Sure, monster truck mags are known to have airbrushed airheads all over the place, but a bikini ice fishing team? Really? What makes them a team? I mean, who do they compete against? Is there a bikini ice fishing league somewhere? Could it possibly become an Olympic sport?
I’ll reserve judgement (kind of– um, that shit’s whack, yo) and let one of the good readers at Outdoor Life, Bear McGillicuddy (no joke, and yeah, that’s his REAL picture) speak for me: “Hey, greatest Gallery Ever.” Hey Bear, if you’re interested in hearing the stories of REAL women, give Wend a try!
