Travel is a good vehicle for encouraging us to work for positive change. And sometimes the online travel world is the perfect place to gather energy for that change.
Last year some amazing travel bloggers came up with the idea of Passports With Purpose, a fund-raising campaign that would harness the power of travel bloggers and raise some money for a good cause during the holiday season. The campaign was so successful that it’s taking place again, this year raising funds to build a school in Cambodia.
The 2009 Passports With Purpose fundraising effort is supporting American Assistance for Cambodia, an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving opportunities for the youth and rural poor in Cambodia. Acclaimed New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof has worked with the organization, and you can read his inspiring account of the experience here. The goal is to raise $13,000, enough to build an entire school. The positive impact for children and the local community will be priceless.
