From Russia With Love: The Vodka Pill

Powder

Russian professor Evgeny Moskalev of Saint Petersburg Technological University has come up with a way for people to get drunk without actually having to drink anything: by turning alcohol into powder so that it can be stuffed into pills.

But according to the Times of India, this dehydrated, or “dry” vodka doesn’t have to be transported in an aspirin container. The powdery substance can also be “wrapped in paper and carried around in a pocket or a bag.”

Proponents of the technique argue that “vodka in the form of a pill would come handy at parties where consumers would be able to calculate their exact required dosage.”

Moskalev’s new technique, which is just begging to be outlawed all over the world, can solidify any kind of alcohol, including whisky, cognac, wine and beer.

  1. this is a lie says:

    first…

and no source, nobody believes you

No source? What about the link at the bottom? It takes you to the original article in the Science section of the Times of India.

And if that’s not enough here’s a report on the Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/03/alcohol-pill-scientist-pa_n_379095.html

And FOX News had it all over their MYFOX(insert city name here) sites but they pulled it down today. If they did so because it’s a b.s. story nobody else seems to be doing it. And since FOX didn’t put a retraction up I don’t think they pulled it because it isn’t true but rather because it is true and they don’t want to be responsible for people doing it on their own. It looks like one of their original stories on the subject profiled a blogger who detailed exactly how to do it. Probably not a how-to FOX News corporate wants to endorse.

Thanks for the heads up though. If you can show me that it is a fake then I will most definitely write a retraction at the bottom of the post.

Here are a few good reasons to distrust this story: it cannot, apparently, be confirmed beyond this rather sketchy Times of India story. A quick search for “Evgeny Moskalev” only returns links to this original piece. Second, the name of the university is the “Saint Petersberg State Polytechnical University,” and the fact the the story gets this wrong is a red flag. (A quick visit to the university website shows that there is no such faculty member there.) People just keep recycling the original story — no interviews, no links to any research, no corroboration. Seems like B.S. to me.

    LOL.

Seen a lot of fakes in your time, have you, “this is a lie”? Are the pixels a dead giveaway? Are they what tipped you off, you pinheaded little wanker?
