On December 28, Katie Spotz will begin rowing her boat across the Atlantic. If Spotz, 22, completes the 2,500 mile, 100 day trip, she’ll become both the first American to make the salty boat ride from Africa to South America and the youngest to row across the sea solo.
Beyond the personal achievements, Spotz is rowing for a bigger cause. Her expedition, Row for Water, is partnered with Blue Planet Run and aims to raise money for safe, sustainable drinking water. Once her row kicks off in Senegal, you can track her progress on her website, as well as donate to the cause.
