Earlier this year we wrote about the Best Job In The World Contest where the lucky winner would become caretaker of a tropical island for the period of six months and get paid $103,000 (AUS) to do it. Yeah, it sounds like the perfect job, but it was also one of the better marketing stunts by a tourism board that we’ve ever seen: the idea made for 70 million in free publicity for The Queensland Tourism Board.

Well, everything was boat drinks and bikinis until Southall stepped off a jetski and received a near-fatal jellyfish sting. What no one ever told the contest applicants was this fact: Australia in general is home to some of the deadliest creatures on earth.

Well Ben, we’re glad you didn’t die, but knowing that your high-paying, cushy job comes with a little nature pain does make us slightly happy in a petty, jealous, you’re rich and tan we’re not, justice sort of way.
