Surf photography is one of the most difficult arts in the world of outdoor photography. For one, you’re always challenged by light, as the sun is typically either directly behind you (good) or directly in front of you (bad). Also, the photog is often limited to very specific vantages, like the beach for instance. If you’re in the water, you face danger and you also are going to have a difficult time staying or getting to the right place. Every once and while though, certain surf photographers all of the sudden transcend the genre and turn the ordinary into the sublime. Dane Peterson is one of those photographers. Check out his gallery on his site, here.
