Sean Moore, a 44 year-old British climber not only survived two frozen nights on Mulhacen Peak in the Sierra Nevada of Spain, but he also managed to hobble the 11,423 feet down with a broken leg.

After failing to return from his solo mission to master the highest peak in mainland Spain, Moore’s wife reported him missing on January 3. According to the Daily Mail, the Civil Guard spent two days searching for Moore, but the mixture of heavy snow, wind, and freezing temperatures made for poor visibility.

Moore stumbled into a bar on January 5 after making his miraculous descent. The Civil Guard was notified. Moore was immediately taken to Granada’s Hospital Clinico and treated for his injuries.
