On Tuesday, after six days of unglamorous climbing, actress Jessica Biel reached the summit of Africa’s highest peak. It was an emotional accomplishment for the twenty-seven-year-old actress, who began crying immediately upon reaching the top.
Biel, who climbed the 19,340-foot mountain as part of the Summit on the Summit campaign to raise awareness of the global water crisis, was not the only semi-star to reach the top of Africa that day. Among Biel’s climbing team was actor Emile Hirsch (Milk, Taking Woodstock), crazy-tongued Decepticon Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Ethiopian-born singer/producer Kenna, and environmentalist Kick Kennedy, granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy.
The climb culminated in a photo of the group on top of the mountain holding a banner reading “SEND WATER”.
According to People magazine, the group only had 45 minutes to rest at the peak, where one shudders to think of the single-digit temperatures threatening to freeze Biel’s tears onto her well-sculpted face.
