Here’s what Jason Mitchell, founder of FeedTheHabit.com, had to say about this one:

I’ve had this video for several years now. Just this morning, I stumbled across the file and uploaded it to Vimeo for everyone’s viewing pleasure. I got it about 4 years ago from the crew at The Piton, but nobody has officially claimed it so the telemarker-turned-AT skier will continue to live on in anonymity.

Check out his hilarious video as he tells his tale of telemark addiction, faceplants and then his eventual discovery of randonee, alpine touring or AT skiing (however you refer to it).

Thanks for putting this one up on Vimeo, Jason.

Jason is the founder of two great websites. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to check them both out: FeedtheHabit and GEAR.

    yo,
to the dude who made the video:
    i dug the self-effacing humor but…
look at the way you were leading each turn with your downhill shoulder, almost pointing that shoulder down the fall line instead of ‘squaring up” your chest to the fall line when you were doing tele turns. that’s a classic rookie mistake. no wonder you were tentative on crusts. and later on when you had AT skis you were squaring up nice (in fact, you were making real nice turns – really torquing on your thigh/femur bones – everything from the hips down). that just tell me you are a real experienced, good, alpine skier who didn’t have enough patientce and/or humility to learn telemark skiing right. shame. man, those tele turns were downright UG-ly. it took me 10 years of constant self critique and eating crow. i dig that. look, locking the heels will always be the more modern, smarter, more controlled way to get down a hill, but who cares? telemark skiing is fun. and cool. i got short hair, don’t reek of hemp (breath mints!), and have a steady job. glad you are getting out there one way or another. like i said, your video was funny. take it easy.
