A few months ago, we brought you into the den of Lily, the first American Black Bear to have a live webcam showcasing her hibernation and the birth of her cub. Now it’s time we show you Apollo, a rare White Kermode bear, otherwise known as a “spirit bear,” the elusive subspecies of the American Black Bear.
Apollo’s webcam was installed by a Canadian couple who supposedly found the den after falling into it during a hike. Now, the live webcam broadcasts here, and shows Apollo in his daily hibernation pattern.
The installation of webcams in bear dens seems to be a bit of a trend, but one has to wonder if it’s really fair (or legal) for random hikers to spot these sites and install cameras in the faces of a resting animals.
