The month of April arrives on the very cusp of Spring. And with Spring comes a sense of revival and playfulness for adventurers around the world. April itself welcomes growth, and the opening of an entirely new season in which to play in the great outdoors, among the glory of the world’s forests, jungles and overwhelming landscape of trees galore. Whether it be swinging through the branches, resting in the shade of leaves or exploring forests across the globe, wood certainly is good to all of us. For that reason, we deem April the month that screams: ‘Wood is Good.’
This month, in honor of Arbor Day, Wend is partnering with ExOfficio and Chaco to reward the photographer who best visually demonstrates the beauty, fun or subtlety of April’s Friday Photo Theme: ‘Wood is Good.’
Our first winner this month is Chester Williamson for submitting the above photo, taken on a morning hike in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Mount St. Helens. Congratulations Chester, you win a pair of ExOfficio travel underwear, as well as a pair of Chaco sandals. In addition, Chaco will donate a tree in your name through the Arbor Day Foundation!
Here’s what Chester had to say about the shot:
I was on an early morning hike on the East side of Mount St. Helen’s and I stopped for a water break and snack. As I rummaged through my bag, I looked ahead of me and noticed the sun filtering through the trees. I snapped a shot and enjoyed my snack while sitting under the canopy of leaves. What an enjoyable way to spend a morning.
Want your own chance at winning? Submitting is easy! Just fill out this submission form and make sure to include a description of the photo you submit and the address of where you want your gear sent.
Good luck!
