13-Year-Old to Brave Mt. Everest

Jordan Romero, a 13-year-old from California will attempt to climb Mount Everest in order to fulfill his goal of reaching the summits of the highest peaks on each continent.

When he was just 10, Romero became the youngest American to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, and has since summited Mount McKinley—which is considered to be a more technical climb than Everest.

Having dreamed up his ambitious goal at the age of 9, Romero is ready to face the next mountain in his challenge. He feels that he understands the risks, considering that the monstrous peak claims lives almost every year, and is prepared to conquer Everest.

If Romero succeeds, he will become the youngest person to summit the world’s tallest peak. The current record holder is Temba Tsheri of Nepal. Tsheri was 16-years-old and lost five fingers to frostbite during his expedition.
