After Henry Ford’s affordable Model T hit the streets it the early 1900s, it gradually became the norm for every American family to have at least one—if not more—automobile parked in their driveway.
However, the trend expands beyond our borders. Personal and public vehicular transportation, in the form of cars, buses and boats are found in nearly (if not all) every country in the world.
The commonality of the automobile brought with it a rising need for fuel. While we now know that our dependence on oil has helped to contribute to vast environmental damage, seeing an old gas station on the road has the ability to stir up feelings of old-fashioned America nostalgia.
Regardless of whether your bus needs to fill up in Myanmar, your rental car is running low in the Netherlands, or your Venetian boat is running on empty, prepare to take a visual journey of Gas Stations, ‘Round the World.
If you like our ‘Round the World series, you might enjoy some of the previous themes: bicycles, windows, truckin’, glasses, mohawks, beer, authorities, fanny packs, Jesus, swimming, sweaters, mustaches, stairs, chess, foods, silhouettes, donkeys, outhouses, and cemeteries.
