Doorways ‘Round the World

There is something magically symbolic about a doorway. Opening the door and walking into someone else’s realm—whether it is a first-time entry or the thousandth time you’ve stepped foot on the doorstep—is as if you are leaving your own world behind and visiting another.

Exiting holds the same amount of promise, but instead, when leaving a building, one enters into the commons—a place where it seems that anything is possible. Since we are now deep into the heart of spring—with longer days and warmer weather—it is about time we stepped outside of our doors to begin our next great adventures.

Regardless of whether that means that you must pull aside a curtain, undo several locks in your urban apartment, or simply pull open a wooden gate, prepare to take a visual journey of Doors, ‘Round the World.

If you like our ‘Round the World series, you might enjoy some of the previous themes: hatsboatinggas stationsbicycles, windows, truckin’, glasses, mohawks, beerauthorities, fanny packs, Jesus, swimming, sweaters, mustaches, stairs, chess, foods, silhouettes, donkeys, outhouses, and cemeteries.

This is one of my favorite ’round the worlds… Wenders might appreciate this link from the Washington Post, too. It’s a photo gallery of laundry around the world.
