Many of us are culprits of rushing out the door and jumping in our car only to race to a destination that is a mere two miles away. In fact, 40 percent of all urban travel in the U.S. happens within two miles of where people live. We know the harm pollution causes the environment, so why not rely on an alternate, more environmentally friendly form of transportation?
May is Bike-to-Work Month and with that comes a program called the 2 Mile Challenge, which challenges you to bike or walk for any trip that is a commute of two miles or less from your house. CLIF BAR created this game to highlight a commitment to bike advocacy and fight against climate change. They are even awarding a $25,000 grant to each of three nonprofit organizations helping to lead the charge. Each organization has been assigned to a 2 Mile Challenge team: Red, Gold and Blue. All you have to do is register, pick your team and start pedaling your bike to earn points and move the conscious footprint forward. The winning team will earn its nonprofit an additional $25,000 grant!
