See What SUP in Portland This Weekend

Rain, hail or shine, the second of three SUP races held at Oaks Park in Portland, OR. is happening this Saturday, May 22nd. The race, organized by Gorge Performance, takes paddlers on a four mile course around Ross Island and includes four different divisions: Under 14, Under 12’6, Women and Elite. The first race free is $30 and comes with a T-shirt. All subsequent races cost $20. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the races begin at 10 a.m.

If you’re not interested in racing, you can join Surfrider and the Wllamette Riverkeepers on the sand to watch some seriously skilled individuals race by SUP. You can also try SUP out yourself by renting a board for just $20 per four-hour session. I paddled around a bit myself at the first race on May 8th, and it really was one hell of a good time.
