Cycling around the world record attemptBritish bicycle racer, Alan Bate, 45, set out at midnight on March 31st on a mission to circle the globe in a mere 99 days in an effort to break the current world record of 165 days. Nearly two months later, on day 51, Bate has reached the halfway point of 14,500 km.

Having just made it to Cambridge, Thailand, Bates said beating the record has paled in significance to his experience at the birthplace of His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej of Thailand. He was granted the once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the very room where the King was born, which Bate called “the best part of the ride.”

His next stop is the Canadian border. Go, Alan, go.
