2010 Teva Mountain Games

Rafting and adventure sports, Vail, ColoradoThe 2010 Teva Mountain Games (TMG) are finally here! The weekend of June 3 – 6 some 2,000 athletes and 40,000 spectators are expected to descend on the Rocky Mountain town of Vail, Colorado for four days of mountain adventure sports, art and entertainment.

The 9th annual Teva Mountain Games expect record numbers of spectators and athletes for crowd favorites like the IFSC World Cup Bouldering competition–the only World Cup Bouldering event on U.S. soil–as well as the stand up paddling (SUP) events, new to the Games this year.

The Games will also host competitions featuring some of the world’s top athletes in each sport who will compete alongside amateurs of all levels. TMG 2010 also means trail running, kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, road cycling, amateur climbing, fly-fishing and a half marathon. But it’s not all about adventure sports. There will be a photography competition, interactive exhibition and demo areas, DockDog canine competitions, the Outside Adventure Film School, an interactive family area, free concerts and mountain lifestyle parties.

There are also a number of fun and free activities to enjoy, such as the Eddie Bauer adventure clinic on Backcountry and Mountain Preparedness hosted by First Ascent guide Erik Leidecker or the Mountaineering Clinic hosted by First Ascent guide and mountaineering legend Peter Whittaker. Ride the Eddie Bauer zip line, or find out how well your dog navigates the Eukanuba Doggie Dash obstacle course. Check out free Parkour demos with a hands-on beginner clinic and try your hand at SUPing with the C4 Waterman team member and SUP professional, Charlie MacArthur.

Athletes in 24 disciplines and eight sports will have the chance to win more than $100,000 and the ability to say they kicked off their summer of adventure at the Teva Mountain Games–badass.
