The bicycle came before the paved road, which is why 19th century cyclists rode on dirt paths; narrow and dusty and fun as hell. Those old-time cyclists may have had no other surface to pedal on, but today, when paved roads and trails wide and thin abound, many modern cyclists are still drawn to the speed and exhilaration that only a good ol’ naked single track trail can provide, especially on a hot summer day.
So, in light of July’s beckoning brightness and warmth, we’ve decided it’s time we highlighted the ‘Naked Singletrack’; July’s Friday Photo theme–one that evokes both images of winding singletrack trails etched beautifully into a mountain’s natural topography and those of nude summertime bodies pedaling upon bare, sun-scorched paths. This month’s theme is about as open to interpretation as we are to seeing some bicycle buns, but try to stay at least somewhat tasteful in your creativity. We aren’t going to run any shots with dangling appendages. With that in mind; get creative! Get comical! And send us a shot of what ‘Naked Singletrack’ means to you.
