Every issue, we present you with Survival Kit–a section in Wend that features models (a.k.a our wending friends) and awesome outdoor gear from the best outdoor brands in the industry. Our last Survival Kit featured the likes of Ahnu, Anarchy, Ando & Friends, Carhartt, Chaco, Horny Toad, Icebreaker, Jansport, Lolë, Looptworks, Nau, OluKai, Patagonia, Rickshaw, Tecnica, Teva, The North Face, Timberland, U4E, Zeal, Electra and Surly. The thing is–when we venture out to shoot Survival Kit each and every time, we end up having a hell of a lot of fun, and documenting most of it on film thanks to Wend photographer-at-large, Sol Gutierrez, who inevitably catches Wend staff and friends in moments of total candidness. Below are some of the images from our photo shoot in the Alvord Desert that we couldn’t fit into the mag, and a few we couldn’t quite print “appropriately.” Enjoy the behind the shots version of SK 5.2!
