Mountain bikers, unite! And get ready to start Pedaling for Peanuts this fall (September 18th) in Wilmington, NC at the Blue Clay Bike Park. Pedaling for Peanuts, a mountain bike race that consists of a 7-mile-long technical course with some surprising climbs, will feature men’s and women’s solo categories, as well as co-ed and male team categories. Participants will compete for over $1,000 in prizes, and all racers will be entered into a raffle to win a “special participants prize” that has yet to be revealed.
The race itself is a benefit for The Full Belly Project, a local (NC) non-profit that strives to end extreme poverty through “innovation,” by developing and designing “income-generating agricultural devices.” One of the ways the project has helped impoverished communities is through the development of a pedal-powered peanut sheller that can help Third World farmers increase the standard of living for their families and communities.
