Last week during the epic 127 Corridor Sale, which extends from Michigan to Alabama along Route 127, a man sold a bike he had found abandoned on a highway with flat tires and what looked to be broken pedals for just $5. The man who bought it, Greg Estes, soon found out that he had made just a significant investment. After purchasing the ride, he discovered that the bike itself previously belonged to former Tour De France rider Floyd Landis, that it was custom built for him, and retails for $8,000. Adding to that–the pedals that seemed broken turned out to be specially-designed for pro cyclists and worth a good $500.
So… what did Estes do with his newly acquired, super spendy bike? He put it out at his own 127 Sale for a bit more than five bucks… $6,000, and placed it right next to it a shot of Landis riding it a while back at the Leadville Trail Race.
