Mushrooms ‘Round the World

Mushrooms are an interesting breed. Like many other of nature’s sometimes edible oddities, there are plenty of poisonous varieties. And it is sometimes easy to forget the shitakes in your soup are actually fungi, not plants.

Though the term “mushroom” describes a much larger group of gilled fungi, it is typically used to describe fungi with stems, caps and gills on the underside of the cap—basically, the ones that look like umbrellas.

But let’s not discriminate against these beautiful consumers of organic matter. Stem and cap, or no, prepare to take a visual journey of Mushrooms, ‘Round the World.
