But the fox wasn’t the only one who shot that day; the hunter had, in fact, already shot the fox, wounded the animal and was planning to kill it with the butt of his rifle. However, when the hunter approached the injured animal, it fought back and triggered the gun with its paw, shooting the man in the leg.

Foxes have a reputation for being cunning creatures with intelligent minds, and the incident of the fox shooting the hunter does–we’d argue–back up its bad-ass rep.

The man is currently recovering in the hospital. The fox escaped.
