We’ve previously written about the cool initiative taken on by several surf brands called Project BLUE. The initiative has brought together several big name brands who have all co-branded a limited edition product line, where a part of the proceeds go to the Surfrider Foundation. Not only are Project BLUE’s intentions good, but the product line is as well; much of it is made from alternative materials including organic cotton and recycled PET.

Project BLUE has now managed to raise over $140,000 for Surfrider Foundation, which proves the ability to use commerce as a vehicle for positive change.

“Philanthropy is a mature subject and giving without receiving something tangible in return, especially in today’s economy, is a hard idea for many people to grasp,” remarked Vipe Desai, founder of project BLUE. “With project BLUE, we’ve made it incredibly easy to support the Surfrider Foundation. When you shop, the beach wins.”
