Geothermal energy in Australia has received $35 million from the Federal Government. The money will be split between two projects in Victoria, one project in New South Wales, one in South Australia, and one in Western Australia. According to the Age, Geoscience Australia has estimated that Australia’s total energy requirements for 26,000 years could be met by extracting just one percent of their geothermal energy.
