It’s time to get your hands dirty, because horticulture will make you smarter. In a recent study in Louisiana, middle school students that were given hands-on horticulture lessons through the Coastal Roots program performed significantly higher on tests. According to Treehugger, students that participated in the horticulture lessons scored 11.4 points higher on science tests than those who did not, in the first year of the study. In the second year, they scored an incredible 25.07 points higher.
