Hemp’s Many Uses Extend to the Surfboard

Sustainable surfboardsThe value of hemp to the human race cannot be understated: it is the strongest plant fiber our Earth produces and the seed, pulp and leftover biomass are vital in our shift from peak oil to no oil. And the people behind Kaimanu Surfboards have taken note.

After years of vigorous schooling and surfing the pristine coasts of Central California, the Hawaiian Islands and other exotic locales on the globe, the idea of more environmentally friendly surfboards and products dawned on the young Kaimanu as something vital and missing in the surf industry. Years of trial and error with alternative materials has resulted in a new hemp product: the high performance Kaimanu Hemp Surfboard.

Hemp cloth can be used to replace 90 percent of all fiberglass products, including surfboards. Fiberglass is toxic and is produced using petrochemicals and environmentally destructive practices. Hemp cloth is produced sustainably and while grown removes CO2 from the atmosphere more efficiently than any industrially grown plant. Free hemp today means the ability to shift to a sustainable and renewable resource-based economy.

Learn about the many uses of hemp and its extreme value to the human race and get psyched, go green and support hemp with your own unique Kaimanu Hemp Surfboard.

  1. Hemp Fiberglass! Most hemp-heads know about being able to make hemp plastics, but fiberglass is something you don’t hear too much about. And it’s everywhere!

It’s nice to see sports getting into the hemp revolution. Good post.
