Australian Musician Kristin Rule coins herself “The Unconventional Cellist,” a fitting title considering the way she’ll tour her most recent album. Instead of making the 400k route by bus, as many musicians do, she’ll tour by bike, pedaling herself, and everything she needs on tour–cello included–the entire trip. As she puts it on her website, “When you ride a bicycle, all things in life slow down, including album launches!”
Rule’s tour will be entirely pedal-powered, but she’s open to a little help along the way. That’s why she has attached an electric assist trailer to the back of her ride, one that gains its power through solar energy. The device itself is called the ‘Watt-Bott’, developed by Mechanarachy to assist riders carrying heavy cargo. It helps a rider in the same way that “a strong tailwind” might, according to the Mechanarchy website.
Rule’s “Slow Ride Album Launch” is set to start this November in Melbourne, Australia. You can follow her bicycle tour here.
