Ok, I’ll admit it. I’ve got a wandering eye.
Despite the stable of ponies in my basement, I’m always glancing sideways when I see a hot young thang roll by. Bikes just do it for me. I can’t help myself.
Today’s heart-stopper is the Traitor Cycles “Ruben” with Oil Rig paint. While Traitor has a cool thing going in general, it’s really the paint on this one that gets me. It reminds me of the kind of kick-ass graphics that are usually reserved for BMX frames.
Indeed, the BMX section of Interbike this year was my favorite part of the entire, over-the-top, Vegas-sized, bike-lust extravaganza. Their stickers and printed materials kicked serious ass. They smiled and looked overly relaxed. Instead of matching black polo shirts with logos, they were dressed down. BMX-fabulous.
I’ve been asking for a trick-bike for three years now and, so far, the birthday Gods have denied my requests.
Mix a little Traitor Cycles attitude with some well-executed paint and the Ruben appears to be shaping up as the perfect gateway drug. A little bit BMX, a little bit street, a little bit speedy.
Besides, Traitor is out of my old home state of Washington (Ferndale, no less! Who designs bikes in Ferndale? ) and they’re website seriously rips. Truly.
